The Recycled Silent Movie project is part of Hat Fair’s Celebrating Age project, a two-year programme of arts and activity exploring and celebrating the realities of life as an older person in the UK, through theatre and film.

This new short silent film has been made from recycled archive footage combined with new footage of participants as they brought their memories of cinema, family and life’s achievements to life once more.

Working in partnership, Hat Fair and The Core at Corby Cube have enabled older people from both areas to swap stories and collaborate creatively. The participants have been artistic collaborators, contributing their stories to the project through a series of workshops with professional film-makers, composers and historians.

The final film tracks these memories using precious items as time machines, weaving present day together with a time gone by and spreading the joy and spirit of each town.

The musical accompaniment will be curated live on the evening by composer and film pianist Jonathan Best and local young musicians.

The Celebrating Age project is funded by Arts Council England and Baring Foundation Celebrating Age grant.
