Hat Fair announces three year partnership with A-Plan Insurance

The Live Theatre Winchester Trust, which incorporates Hat Fair, has today announced a three year sponsorship relationship with A-Plan Insurance in Winchester to support the Sunday festivities of the festival. This agreement extends A-Plan Insurance’s support of the charity having recently sponsored the Theatre Royal’s Spring family programme.

Deryck Newland, Chief Executive of Live Theatre Winchester Trust comments “Hat Fair is a free festival for everyone to enjoy. However it is far from free to put on! We gratefully receive funding from Arts Council England, Winchester City Council and Without Walls, however there is a significant shortfall each year that we need to raise to ensure the festival goes ahead. This is raised through corporate sponsorship, partnerships and donations. We are incredibly grateful to A-Plan Insurance for this partnership and we look forward to working with them over the next few years.

Ian Tuffrey, A-Plan Insurance Winchester Branch Manager comments “Local is at the heart of everything we do at A-Plan Insurance so it was only natural to lend our support to such a diverse event that offers something for all ages in the Winchester community and beyond. We are looking forward to the 2018 Hat Fair and being involved for many years to come.”

This year’s Hat Fair takes place from Friday 29 June to Sunday 1 July and features three days of entertainment featuring theatre, dance and circus events. The Sunday’s festivities have traditionally taken place at Oram’s Arbour but this year the festival is making the move to North Walls Recreation Ground.

A-Plan Insurance will be present at Hat Fair on the Sunday and will be running a competition to win a gift voucher worth £250 for Theatre Royal Winchester. They will also be hosting a Los Angeles Police Department car and providing free face painting.

Andrew Loretto, Hat Fair Director continues “It’s fantastic to have the support of A-Plan Insurance for the next three years. This will allow us to grow the partnership – their support is vital. The decision to move to the North Walls Recreation Ground on Sunday provides the festival with a great opportunity to expand the type of acts we can present due to the flatter terrain, provide greater access for those artists and audience members with restricted mobility and, due the size of the space, it means that a larger audience can enjoy the day. We are thrilled that A-Plan Insurance will be there adding to the fun and helping us to develop Hat Fair over the next three years.

Hat Fair is the UK’s longest continually running Outdoor Arts Festival and attracts around 60,000 visitors to Winchester every year. Highlights not to be missed include NoFit State and Motionhouse’s BLOCK, Candoco Dance Company’s Dedicated to…, interactive street theatre with Mind the Gap’s Mirror Mirror, twisting acrobatics and live music with Max Calaf Seve’s dip and the bicycle powered musical Bicycle Boy by Helen Eastman Productions as well as the very best in international street performers.

The full programme of events will be available on this website from Friday 25 May.
