Hat Fair Carnival, the best yet!
Hat Fair 2019 burst on to the streets of Winchester with the festival’s bright and colourful Carnival.
Hundreds of local school children paraded from The Great Hall to Abbey Gardens, in bold costumes inspired by the heritage, culture and nature of the city and surrounding areas.
Singing and dancing, they were joined by school teachers, actors from local theatre companies, Play to the Crowd staff, and Thingamujig Theatre’s Ghost Caribou – two giant illuminated caribou puppets you couldn’t miss.
Office workers out for lunch, residents and tourists were treated to an explosion of music and colour as the Carnival made its way down High Street, around the Cathedral grounds, and on to The Broadway and Abbey Gardens where the children watched a show by Out of Bounds Theatre.
