Without Walls

Without Walls is a consortium of leading arts organisations and festivals, dedicated to the development of the UK’s outdoor arts sector.

The consortium – whose members include Brighton Festival, Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, Norfolk & Norwich Festival, Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival, Stockton International Riverside Festival, Out There International Festival of Circus & Street Arts, Showzam, Just So Festival, 101 Outdoor Arts Creation Space and Hat Fair – nurtures talent and skills as well as commissioning adventurous new productions for the outdoor performance sector.

Seven productions at Hat Fair 2017 will be co-commissioned and supported by Without Walls.

University of Winchester

The University of Winchester is one of Hat Fair’s long-term partners and home to the only Street Arts BA degree course in the country, a combination which makes the city of Winchester a uniquely significant centre for the development of Street Arts.

Since 2015, in addition to its general support of the festival, the University of Winchester has sponsored the new Hat Fair Fringe Festival, a showcase for student and graduate performances.

Winchester School of Art

Winchester School of Art is proud to be one of the UK’s leading art and design institutions and part of the University of Southampton, offering flexible and innovative undergraduate and graduate programmes.

Since 2015, we have hosted six Winchester School of Art students each year on paid internships at the festival through the University of Southampton’s work placement scheme.

Winchester Business Improvement District (BID)

Winchester BID has been in operation since 2008 and is funded by 873 Winchester businesses within the city centre who invest collectively in local improvements that are additional to those delivered by statutory bodies.

Funding is gratefully received from Arts Council England and Winchester City Council.
