Hat Fair 2021 Access Info
North Walls Recreation Grounds, Riverpark Leisure Centre Car Park - Access Guide
There is a public car park situated in front of the former Riverpark Leisure Centre with seven disabled parking bays directly outside the entrance doors. The surrounding area is pedestrian and paid parking with level paved access.
We have arranged for additional disabled bays for the duration of the event. They will be located in the section directly opposite the existing disabled bays. This will increase the number by 8, making a total of 15 blue badge holder spaces from the 2 July - 4 July 2021 inclusive. Spaces will be identified by cones, along with notices saying the bays are reserved for disabled users.
These spaces are available on a first come, first served basis for blue badge holders.
Step free access
All pathways around the recreational fields are flat and even. There are two possible routes to the site from the Leisure Centre Car Park. Signage advising best routes will be placed at the pathway entrance.
Some pathway surfaces are gravelly and with small very slightly uneven sections, but are entirely suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters etc.
Terrain on the site
The festival takes place on a flat grassed area. There are permanent pathways between the different recreational fields, one of these includes a sloped bridge. There are no pathways once on the festival location; it is a greenfield site. The grass is short and hard surface. However, in exceptionally rainy conditions, the underlying ground could become softer and less accessible for wheelchairs.
Nearest accessible toilet
There will be two accessible temporary toilets on the festival site. Please ask a member of Festival Staff for directions on site.
There are limited park benches spaced out on the pathways around the recreation ground. There will be no permanent seating on the festival site, but there will be some shared benches and tables located centrally on the site.
Shade and shelter
There is no natural shade or shelter on the recreational fields. You are advised to bring an umbrella for shade, and take all the usual precautions when sitting in direct sunlight.
There will be accessible viewing areas located at every performance pitch. They will be clearly marked and stewards will be on hand to guide people to those spaces. Please make yourself known to the pitch steward if you wish to use an accessible viewing area.
WSA Car Park
There is hard-surface level access from Park Avenue to the WSA Car Park venue. The car park is a hard tarmac surface, mostly flat with some slightly uneven areas and very slight gradients in places. There is an accessible toilet on site.
